To begin changing
settings for your web site, setting up new email accounts, and
creating new FTP users, log on to your easy-to-use Control Panel at
the following url:
http://www.yourdomain.com:2327
(Replace "yourdomain.com" with your own domain name.) Enter the
userid and password provided to you in the Account Activation Notice
email. A detailed Control
Panel User Guide is available on our web site to take you through
the various features.
Uploading Files:
The following
information is contained within your Account Activation Notice email
and is needed to connect to the site: username (userid),
password and FTP host name. It is our recommendation that you
store this email in a safe place in case you need to refer to it
later. It is also recommended that you change your password often, to
something that cannot easily be guessed by others. While your domain
name is propagating or being registered (sometimes this may take up to
72 hours), you may use your IP address to connect to your site.
Customers with
Microsoft FrontPage® extensions installed on their sites should use
the FrontPage® program to transfer files to their account. Please
consult your Microsoft FrontPage® documentation for assistance on
using the program, or visit our
FrontPage FAQ.
When you connect to the web server
via FTP, you
will connect directly to the root (or "home") directory of your
account. You will see several system folders such as bin, cgi-local,
htdocs, and stats which are landmarks suggesting a successful
connection.
Your web page document
root is /htdocs. You can transfer files to this directory and/or
create subdirectories within /htdocs. The only system directory that
you may need to use is cgi-local; this directory is reserved for
custom scripts.
To make your new home page
load automatically, name your homepage HTML document "index.html" (in
lowercase only) and upload it to the /htdocs directory of your
account. Be sure to upload HTML documents in ASCII mode and images in
BINARY mode. This default page may be replaced automatically when you
upload your index file, so rename this file or print it for future
reference. More detailed
FTP instructions are also available.
